Designer for Canberra Quilters 2009 Show
WOW, I have been requested and accepted to be the designer for the Canberra Quilters Show at EPIC in Aug 2009.. and the process has already begun.. there are approx 600 members and I will have no idea what is going to be submitted until basically the last minute. Well I always did like a challenge. My thoughts to date is how to get the WOW factor to encourage non quilters to view the expo whilst they are at the craft fair and how to adequately promote the sponsors and how to best display the Best of Show. My trip to the International Quilt Show at Houston in 2008 hopefully will inspire me :-)

Sandy has Alpacas! so I found an easy way to dye the wool using food colouring and a microwave :-) The result is fabric made from Alpaca wool, 1" chiffon squares and verigated pink thread using a large water soluable laundry bag and I heavily machine quilted it all. Then it was washed in the bath with bubble wrap. I love the result. I am giving this to Sandy, then I am making a blue scarf for me.
well I'm off this weekend to take early morning photos of the canberra lakes ready for my 2008 Canberra Quilt Show.. The plan is to make a colorwash background then with the careful positioning and use of colour create hot air balloons floating off in the distance. with the closest balloons with the most details.
